SANDRO Unveils “WILD ANIMALS” Capsule Collection

Get ready for a delightful fusion of art and fashion as SANDRO collaborates with Dutch artist Rop Van Mierlo for an exclusive “WILD ANIMALS” capsule collection. This unique collection showcases Van Mierlo’s vivid and whimsical animal illustrations, created using his signature “wet-on-wet” technique, across a range of stylish apparel.
Van Mierlo’s artistic process, rooted in his elementary school days, embraces the unpredictable nature of “wet-on-wet” painting. This method, which allows colours to bleed and blend freely, brings to life a vibrant menagerie of frogs, rabbits, cats, and koalas. His acclaimed book, Wild Animals, earned him the Dutch Design Award in 2011, cementing his reputation for capturing the essence of untamed creatures.
In this collaboration, SANDRO’s design team has seamlessly integrated Van Mierlo’s playful animal depictions onto an array of autumn-winter 2024 pieces. Look out for the Frog Technical Jacket, Cat Short Sleeve Shirt, Rabbit Long Sleeve Shirt, and various jersey t-shirts and sweatshirts. The collection also features a special reinterpretation of the SANDRO logo, rendered in a fluid, wet effect.
Released on 8th July 2024, the collection is available in boutiques and online stores, with the Frog Technical Jacket and Rabbit Long Sleeve Shirt exclusively available in Asia. These items, adorned with Van Mierlo’s enchanting illustrations, are bound to be collector’s items, adding a touch of playful elegance to any wardrobe.

About Rop Van Mierlo
Amsterdam-based graphic designer and illustrator Rop Van Mierlo, a graduate of Design Academy Eindhoven, is celebrated for his innovative and playful approach to art. His collaborations with top fashion brands like Hermès and Moncler highlight his unique talent for capturing the wild spirit of animals through his “wet-on-wet” technique. Van Mierlo’s work is characterised by its vivid colours and the fluidity of his watercolour technique, which gives each piece a sense of movement and life.
